Beard Growth

Beard growth has become a growing trend in the last decade. Let’s face it, if you are growing a beard, you want a nice, thick look to your beard. What we have seen lately is an influx of beard products come into the market, however, many men that want beard growth are relying on hair growth products to see if the same can happen with their beards. If you are having problems growing your beard out, don’t worry, you are not alone. Many men face the issue of having a lack of facial hair growth in their face or patchiness which aesthetically men don’t like and want a full beard.

Minoxidil, applied topically, is widely used for the treatment of hair loss. It is effective in helping promote hair growth in people with androgenic alopecia regardless of sex. About 40% of men experience hair regrowth after 3–6 months. Minoxidil must be used indefinitely for continued support of existing hair follicles and the maintenance of any experienced hair regrowth. Minoxidil is the main ingredient in Rogaine and products alike that are now in the market. Typically, Minoxidil is sold as 5% for men and a 2% solution for women. Depending on severity of hair loss, you’re offered one or the other. Minoxidil / Rogaine is a FDA approved drug and therefore trusted by consumers, it’s also been clinically tested time and time again, so, is it safe? Yes.

It’s important to quickly understand how Rogaine works to understand how it helps the hair growth cycle. Protein-based cells in your hair follicles start developing into a hair. Follicles are the capsules in your skin that contain your hair. This is the first part of the anagen phase. Blood vessels around the follicle fuel the protein cells and help the hair grow progressively longer. This is the second part of the anagen phase. As the hair grows, it comes up and out of the skin, and gets lubricated by an oil gland in your skin. This is the beginning of the catagen phase, when the hair stops growing. Over time, the hair falls out of the follicle, and the growth cycle begins anew. This is called the telogen phase. Rogaine or Minoxidils main function is that it acts as a Vasodilator. What does it mean? It basically means it expands the blood vessels so that the hair follicle becomes larger as it stimulates and helps the growth of hair in the anagen phase. So, what does this mean for your facial hair? It actually means because the follicles are larger in the face than scalp, it actually works quicker for beard growth.

There are without a doubt many side effects known with the use of Minoxidil, and that also plays out when used on your face. Let’s list some of the known side effects of minoxidil.

  • severe scalp irritation;
  • unwanted growth of facial hair; (could drip into other parts of your face)
  • chest pain, fast heartbeats;
  • swelling in your hands or feet, rapid weight gain;
  • a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
  • headache, dizziness, confusion; or.
  • flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling).
  • Minoxidil has also been known to have bad side effects on some pets, particularly cats. So, putting it on your face can be an issue as a cat owner.

Leave the minoxidil on your face for 4 hours. Research has shown it takes approximately 4 hours to achieve 75% absorption or higher. (10) So if you want the full beardifying effects of minoxidil, you’re gonna have to leave it on your face for this long.

We would recommend using and looking at Spectral.BRD by DS Laboratories with the use of Nanoxidil 5%. Spectral.BRD is a breakthrough serum that offers an integrated approach in reducing patchiness and improving the even coverage of your facial hair. For a thicker and fuller beard, we’ve combined the most effective, clinically proven ingredients to create a serum that promotes fuller density, stimulate growth, and improves facial hair quality. To increase the number and quality of terminal hairs per square inch in your beard or mustache, Spectral.BRD uses powerful hair growth stimulating ingredients like DS Laboratories’ proprietary Nanoxidil®, Piroctone Olamine, Adenosine, and other actives, to deliver a complete facial hair solution for the modern man.

WHY SPECTRAL.BRD OVER ROGAINE (MINOXIDIL) FOR BEARD GROWTH? We believe its a safer product to apply to your face with no side effects. Looking at Amazon reviews for example, we can see the following: “So far I have zero complaints. My thinner hairs have been thickening. And my half spot now have small hairs that have been sprouting. I already was beard capable just very patchy. I also paired this with a biotin supplement and a men’s multi-daily as well as recent dietary changes and an increase in exercise. The combination of all of the above mention has improved my bearded lifestyle so whether this is a miracle solution or not I do not know. Will update again in 3 more weeks.” “Been using for 2 and 1/2 weeks and this works faster and better than minoxidil did. I was a minoxidil hard gainer and with this stuff, I’m a normal/fast gainer. Spots that minoxidil never helped, are now filling with tiny hairs. And existing straight hairs are darkening and curling up. Simply put, this stuff works. I will update again in about another month. Some of the other guys should have updates soon to keep you guys company.” It’s important to note that Spectral.BRD also is a superior product to Rogaine or basic/generic minoxidil due to the ingredients it has for not only beard growth but beard health as well. Ingredients for growth and beard health:

  • Nanoxidil 5%
  • Caffeine
  • Rosemary Oil
  • Biotin
  • Castor Oil

Including more ingredients that make Spectral.BRD a better choice for beard growth than Rogaine or generic minoxidil use.

Final Thoughts

You can use Rogaine for beard growth and has proven to be effective for many users. We would recommend using a solution with less reported side effects in Spectral.BRD with the added more beneficial ingredients as well.
